It was a great morning for reflection. I realize how grateful I am for the life I have. Yes, I am sad to leave Michigan. I love it here~~the climate is perfect and the surroundings are, in my opinion, the best life has to offer. But as a good friend pointed out to me recently, It's not the place, but "the people IN the place." I've thought about that a lot. And he's right. I have many wonderful relationships with the people here in Michigan. And this past season I have strengthened those relationships and deepened the bond with some of the most wonderful, loving people I have ever known (xo Ms D). I even made a couple of new friends. And that is what I will miss most~~the people.
But on that same note, I have several close friends in Texas that I miss very much while I am in Michigan. Some have been friends for more than 20 years. I have one girlfriend that when we met, we were both single moms with 5-year olds...now we are both grandmothers (love you Ms G!). And that's what draws me back to Texas~~my friends.
So it is in this mindset that I leave Michigan tomorrow morning. But you have to know that when I leave, a huge piece of my heart stays here. I will reclaim it in the Spring.
The Perfect Maple Tree |
I knew when I saw the name Diane and Michigan, you were from Texas where I knew you to live. I remember you building a new home. Wow, is it gorgeous where you live. That lake view is stunning. And the maple is truly perfect.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your comments, Donna! You have one of the most beautiful blogs I've ever visited. Thank your stopping by mine. I look forward to following you more closely.
ReplyDeleteSo fun to see the photo of you and your dogs on your Michigan property! They're so cute! And I agree that it's the people in the place. Most of my friends and family live in the Midwest--that's what keeps me here. If they moved, I'd probably move, too (at least for part of the year, as you have). I hope you had safe travels to Texas. Will you post from Texas during the winter? I hope so, because posts from the south help keep us northerners optimistic during the big chill. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHi Beth! Yes, I do plan to blog from Texas. Maybe not as often as I'd like but I will still be blogging. But you can bet as soon as we get home to Michigan in the spring, I will be back at it big time! So please come back and visit me :)
